The Straight Teeth Process at Taylored Dental…
So when you have your braces done the price you pay includes all the treatment required, and there are the 3 different categories of packages based on individual needs which will be discussed in the surgery at the time.
But all your appointments for impressions, photographs, any x-rays, all of those things are included as part of your treatment plan and your ongoing treatment.
All the appointments for doing the adjustments, moving the teeth, checking progress, things like that, that’s all included as well.
Once the teeth are in the favoured position, then all teeth once they´re moved need to be retained otherwise they can move back to their original positions slowly and then we can end up back at square one. So regardless of what type of orthodontics you have, you always have to retain the teeth.
Now when you have the retainers there are 2 main types:
One is a removable retainer which is a clear retainer like so. That goes over the teeth and you wear that on a night, ideally for 3 to 4 times a week and that helps to keep your teeth in position and prevents them from moving back.
The other alternative is a little wire that goes on the inside of the teeth and that is permanently stuck on the back of the teeth.
Now, the advantage of the removable one is exactly that… you can take it out, you don’t have to have anything stuck on the back of the teeth but the disadvantage is that some people are not very good at remembering to wear them and therefore they prefer to have the bonded retainer because that’s stuck in place and then they don’t have to worry about having to wear one of these at night.
But other people prefer to have the belt and braces approach and have both and that’s all included in the package, one or the other or both.
Also at the end of the treatment there are tooth whitening trays provided as well, so you just need to get the gel from the practice and you can whiten your teeth, if appropriate, at the end of the treatment. And there are also packages available where if there are little bits of wear on the teeth and you want them to be levelled off and improved further then we can do some bonding and improve the appearance of the teeth further from that point of view.
So, yes if anyone is interested just pop down to Taylored Dental Care and we do a free smile consult just to discuss and go through everything with you and take it from there.

Straight Teeth Solutions
So if you would like you teeth straightening we have 2 different systems to suit your lifestyle at Taylored Dental Care. I’ll go through both of them and tell you which ones is what and just give you a simple overview of what’s involved.
So the first one is a clear aligner system and the impression is taken of the teeth to make a mould that looks like that. On that a clear aligner is made and these seat onto the teeth like so and you wear a series of these to gradually move the teeth into the favoured position over time.
The advantage of these is that they are perfectly clear. So when they are in the mouth you can hardly see them at all. There’s no wires, no metal, no brackets and the most cosmetic type of brace is this system basically.
The other advantage is being removable, if you are going out on a night out, if you’re eating, things like that, you can take these out and continue as normal so it does give you that flexibility.
Ideally these do need to be worn for 16 hours during the day and as long as they are worn for that period, it doesn’t matter exactly when. But these one do give you the flexibility. These are limited in what they can do though… so they can’t do a lot of tooth rotations and more demanding alignments, that’s where our quick straight teeth system comes in…
Now these involve fixed brackets on the teeth, a bit more like your traditional braces but instead they have clear brackets and white wires instead of the traditional metal one, so again, although visible they are a lot less noticeable than the traditional braces.
Again impressions are taken of the teeth and a treatment plan so we know what we can do and what we can’t do, what’s needed. These are the gold standard in terms of tooth movement so you can rotate teeth, you can close gaps, you can sit them forwards, backwards, so these can do most things in terms of cosmetic short term orthodontics.
In terms of treatment time, teeth can be straightened from as little as about 3 months. The average for tooth alignment is about 6 months to 9 months and once the teeth are straightened then retainers are worn to stop the teeth from moving back and I’ll go through what’s involved with these types of systems in my next video.
What is Orthodontics?
An effective long-term solution to straightening your teeth and correcting your bite is orthodontics. Orthodontics is a subspecialty area in dentistry that focuses on aligning and straightening teeth using wires and brackets that apply force to the teeth to move them into a particular position. The discipline has advanced over decades and today treatment is a lot shorter and more comfortable than it was in the past.
Patients who have problems with their bite and the way their top and bottom teeth line up against each other should consider having orthodontic treatment. Treatment does require good oral hygiene habits by the patient and regular visits to the practice for check-ups and adjustments.
Depending on the extent of the alignment required with your teeth, treatment can take from several months to a year with reliable results. Thanks to fixed permanent retention you can be assured that your teeth won’t move after treatment is completed.
The main benefit of having orthodontic treatment is that straighter teeth are healthier teeth. When your bite is properly aligned and your teeth are straightened, there are less gaps and areas for food to get trapped and plaque to build up on the teeth, causing decay. In that sense, orthodontics is a long-term investment in your oral health.
